Description
12V @ 1.25A for all Vipers (NOT for Lithium Batteries)
(Plug it in and leave it!)
For Vipers 2003–2014, this high-tech device is designed to connect to your non-lithium battery for as long as your car is in storage — whether short-term, long-term, or during winter. The Battery Tender Plus is a 1.25A battery charger that fully charges and maintains your battery without the damaging effects of trickle chargers.
Included is a quick-connect harness for hard-to-reach areas and a set of wires with connectors that attach directly to your battery. These can be positioned at the bottom of your car’s body, allowing easy plug-in access without opening the hood.
This amazing device uses advanced circuitry to sense when your battery needs charging and when to pause. It automatically restarts when the battery voltage drops. It’s so easy — simply plug it in and leave it!
Spark-proof, short-circuit protected, and reverse-polarity protected. Sealed and maintenance-free with a ten (10) year manufacturer’s warranty. The LED indicator shows the charge stage at all times. Includes a 12-foot cord and permanent cables.
DODGE VIPER 1992–2006

- Fully automatic two-stage lead-acid battery charger. Perfect for all lead-acid, sealed maintenance-free, and gel cell batteries.
- SuperSmart™ Charging Technology.
- After reaching peak 14.4 VDC, the charger automatically switches to 13.2 VDC float voltage.
- When voltage drops below 12.6 VDC, the charger resumes charging back to 14.4 VDC.
- Solid-state two-color LED indicates charging stage.
- Spark-proof.
- Reverse polarity protected.
- 12-foot output cord.
- 5-year warranty.
- 3-Step Charging (Initialization, Bulk, Float)
- Short-circuit protected.
Simply connect the included connector cord to your battery and leave it attached. When ready to use the car, unplug and drive away — no need to open the hood.
1. How can I tell if my battery is charged?
A 12-volt battery has six 2-volt cells. A fully charged cell measures about 2.15V; a discharged one, 1.9V. So, a full 12V battery reads about 12.9V and an empty one about 11.4V — a 1.5V total range.
To estimate charge percentage:
OPEN CIRCUIT BATTERY STATE OF CHARGE CALCULATION
% Charge = ((Measured Battery Voltage – 11.4 volts) / 1.5 volts) × 100
Equation 1
For accurate readings, the battery must rest (no load) for at least 2–24 hours. Be aware that a battery can sometimes show a good voltage but still fail under load, so a professional load test is best.
2. How long will it take to charge a battery?
Approximate Recharge Time:
(Battery Capacity) / (Charger Current) = Hours
(Amp-Hours) / (Amps) = Hours
Equation 2
Example: A 50Ah battery with a 10A charger takes about 5 hours to reach 80% charge. Reaching 100% usually doubles that time with a 3-step charger, but less with a 4-step version.
3. Is the Battery Tender PLUS more expensive than a trickle charger?
Initially, yes — but it provides far better long-term performance and protection. Unlike trickle chargers, it safely maintains your battery over long periods using intelligent voltage regulation, preventing damage and extending battery life.
4. How is the Battery Tender PLUS different from a trickle charger?
The Battery Tender PLUS uses advanced electronic control to maintain a full charge while minimizing risks of overcharging and capacity loss. Trickle chargers cannot adjust voltage as batteries age or vary in chemistry. The Battery Tender PLUS is compatible with all lead-acid types, including AGM and GEL cells.
