What your Viper should have come with: a simple modification to your RT/10 Viper trunk. Insert a gas lift arm to make your trunk pop up and stay up when you open it with your key.

Includes: Gas Lift Arm and the two drill bits needed — fits any drill. See photos. For the years 1992–2002.

Installation Instructions

Items Included:

• (1) Lift Arm
• (2) Ball head with threaded stud
• (1) Spade Drill Bit
• (1) Traditional Drill Bit

1. Raise your Viper trunk to the desired height. Safely prop up the trunk lid while you work.
2. Take out the lift arm and hold it in the position you want it when the trunk lid is fully open (See Diagram A). The lift arm is already hyper-extended, so no need to pull it open further. Line up the lift arm so the top is approximately one inch from the trunk lip (see photos). Mark where the top will attach to the trunk lid side (TOP). Note: It doesn’t matter exactly where you install the lift arm as long as it fits the top and bottom of the trunk when open.
3. Use the traditional drill bit to drill a hole through the side of the black trunk lid all the way through to the other side.
4. Center the large ¾”-1″ spade drill bit on the hole made on the inside of the trunk lid (see Diagram B). This allows room to reach in with a socket wrench to screw on the nut securing the top of the lift arm to the trunk lid.
5. Insert one of the two ball screws into the traditional hole on the outside of the trunk lid. Attach the nut from the inside through the large access hole and tighten firmly.
6. Extend the trunk to the maximum upright position and swing the lift arm down to where it will fasten to the trunk opening on the back of the car (BOTTOM). Ensure your mark is accurate. Drill a hole with the traditional bit into the black housing inside the trunk opening (see photos).
7. Insert the ball screw and reach inside the trunk compartment under the black plastic lip to screw on the nut.
8. Open and close the trunk to ensure a tight fit and that it opens completely and stays up.
