Description
12V @ 1.25A for all Vipers with standard non-lithium batteries. (Plug it in and leave it!)
For Vipers 1992-2002, this new high-tech device is designed to hook onto your battery for as long as your car is in storage, such as winter time, temporary, or long-term non-use. The Battery Tender Plus is a 1.25 amp battery charger designed to fully charge a battery and maintain it at proper storage voltage without the damaging effects caused by trickle chargers. Included is a quick-connect harness for hard-to-reach areas and a set of wires with connectors that attach to your battery. They can be accessed at the bottom of your car, so you just connect the Battery Tender device and plug it into a wall outlet. When you are ready to use the car, simply unplug the connector at the bottom of your car and drive away. You never have to open the hood!
This amazing device has advanced circuitry that senses when your battery needs charging and when to go into full charge pause mode. When the battery drops in charge, the device automatically resumes charging until the battery is fully charged. It’s so easy — simply plug it in and leave it! Best of all, it won’t hurt your battery or car electrical system. Spark proof. Short circuit protected. Reverse polarity protected. Sealed and maintenance-free. Ten (10) year manufacturer’s warranty. The LED light indicates the stage of charging at all times. Includes 12-foot cord and permanent cables.
Battery Tender PLUS Device Details
- Battery Tender PLUS is lightweight and compact, making it ideal for hard-to-fit spots. The trickle charger with a brain ensures batteries are maintained after charging and ready to go.
- Fully automatic two-stage lead-acid battery charger. Perfect for all lead-acid, sealed maintenance-free, and gel cell batteries.
- SuperSmart Charging Technology.
- After reaching peak 14.4 VDC, the charger automatically switches to 13.2 VDC float voltage.
- When the voltage drops below 12.6 VDC, the charger resumes charging back to 14.4 VDC.
- A solid-state two-color LED indicates the stage of the charger.
- Spark proof.
- Reverse polarity protected.
- 12-foot output cord.
- 5-year warranty.
- 3-Step Charging (Initialization, Bulk, Float).
- Short circuit protected.
It’s so easy! The connector cord and female connector head simply connect to your battery and stay connected. Plug it into the charger connector and keep it plugged in for a constant trickle charge. It will only turn on when your battery starts to get low. When not in use, simply tuck the connector cord (yellow arrow) inside the engine compartment. Start your car and drive away. You never have to open the hood.
1. How can I tell if my battery is charged?
Lead-acid batteries are made up of cells. Each cell is approximately 2 volts, so a 12-volt battery has 6 individual cells. A fully charged 2-volt cell has a voltage of approximately 2.15 volts, and a fully discharged 2-volt cell has 1.9 volts. Therefore, a 12-volt battery measures about 12.9 volts when fully charged and about 11.4 volts when fully discharged. To estimate the remaining charge, use the formula:
% Charge = ((Measured Battery Voltage – 11.4 volts) / 1.5 volts) x 100
For accuracy, the battery should be at rest for at least 24 hours. Load tests provide absolute certainty that a battery is fully charged.
2. How long will it take to charge a battery?
Approximate Recharge Time = (Battery Capacity in Amp-Hours) / (Charger Current in Amps). For example, a 50 Amp-Hour battery with a 10 Amp charger takes about 5 hours to reach 80% capacity. To reach 100% with a 3-step charger, it may take an additional 5 hours.
3. Is the Battery Tender PLUS battery charger more expensive than a trickle charger?
The Battery Tender PLUS provides better long-term maintenance of battery charge than typical trickle chargers. It’s built-in intelligence ensures safe and effective charging over time, offering more value despite a higher initial price.
4. How is the Battery Tender PLUS different from a trickle charger?
The Battery Tender PLUS uses advanced electronic controls to maintain a full battery charge over extended periods while minimizing the risk of overcharging and premature capacity loss. It works with all lead-acid battery types, including AGM and GEL cells, and outperforms traditional trickle chargers.
