Our aluminum flywheels are made from the highest quality 6061 T6 aluminum. This material provides excellent strength, heat dissipation, and significant weight reduction. At nearly half the weight of the original steel flywheel, it allows the engine to accelerate faster by reducing both rotating mass and center mass.
This is a direct replacement part designed to last the life of the car. It also helps extend the life of the engine’s rotating assembly (bearings, rods, and crankshaft) by reducing weight.
Construction Details:
- Body: 6061 T6 Aluminum, machined to +/- .001 tolerance. Ultimate tensile strength of 42,000 psi and yield strength of 35,000 psi.
- Ring Gear: 1050 Steel, heat-treated for durability. Heated, pressed on, and secured with Grade 8 button screws.
- Replaceable Friction Plate: 1045 Steel, milled to high specifications. Allows replacing just the plate instead of the entire flywheel, saving time and money.
- Button Screws: Grade 8, providing secure fastening of the ring gear to the flywheel.
- Fasteners: Military-spec aerospace fasteners aid in pulling heat away from the clutch face. Properly spaced for form and function.
- Stepped Dowels: Steel dowels lock in place once the pressure plate is installed. First in the industry to use stepped dowels.
