Dodge Ram SRT-10 Viper-engine pickup truck

Dodge Ram SRT-10: The Complete Guide

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 isn't just a fast truck — it's the fastest production pickup ever built, and more than two decades after launch, it's still the benchmark every "world's fastest truck" claim gets measured against. Built from 2004 to 2006, the Ram SRT-10 dropped the Dodge Viper's 8.3-liter V10 into a full-size pickup, and the result was a factory truck that could out-accelerate most sports cars of its era.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the Ram SRT-10 — history, specs, pricing, common issues, and where to find parts if you already own one.

What Is the Dodge Ram SRT-10?

The SRT-10 was Dodge's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) division applying its performance philosophy to a pickup truck. Rather than building a mild performance package, SRT engineers borrowed the Viper's naturally aspirated 8.3L V10, rated at 500 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque, and built a truck around it. Only 10,046 examples were produced across the full run, making it a genuinely low-volume vehicle by pickup standards.

It was offered in two body styles:

  • Regular Cab (2004–2006) — the original, lighter version, available with a 6-speed manual transmission
  • Quad Cab (2005–2006) — a heavier four-door version, offered only with a 4-speed automatic

The manual Regular Cab is generally considered the more desirable and performance-focused of the two, while the Quad Cab trades some straight-line speed for practicality.

Engine & Performance at a Glance

At the heart of every Ram SRT-10 is the Viper-derived 8.3L V10, producing 500 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0–60 time of roughly 5.3 seconds and a top speed around 154 mph — enough to earn it a Guinness World Record as the fastest production pickup of its era. Fuel economy was never the point; expect single digits to low double digits in real-world driving.
